Replacing the Technics SL 1300G Tonearm with a GrooveMaster GM2 is straightforward. The tonearm on the SL-1300G is constructed as a complete module, with the RCA outputs and ground terminal fully integrated. The tonearm module itself is attached to the chassis with four screws.
After removing the 4 screws of the tonearm module, you can remove the complete tonearm including the base plate.
After the complete tonearm and module have been removed, the new base plate can be installed. This base plate fits precisely onto the existing mounting holes of the original plate—no drilling or cutting required. The GrooveMaster 2 is then inserted into the collar, adjusted to the correct height, and secured using the locking set screw on the collar. Since the GrooveMaster is equipped with a DIN connector, it can be connected to the phono amplifier using a standard straight DIN to RCA cable.
